Maharani of Porbandar

In the early 1970s, T'ang Haywen was invited by the Maharani of Porbandar to visit India. Accompanied by his painter friend Andre Dzierzynski, T'ang travelled to India and spent time at the Maharani's residence the Huzoor Palace before moving to Goa. This journey marked a significant period in T'ang's life, as it exposed him to the rich cultural and artistic heritage of India, which likely influenced his work.

The Maharani's invitation reflects her role as a patron of the arts and her interest in fostering cross-cultural connections. T'ang's time in India, particularly in Goa, further enriched his artistic perspective, blending his Chinese heritage with the vibrant influences of Indian culture.
